I created a website for my brother, but this is my blog.

if you don’t know the story here it is:

When a man fathers a child society expects that man to take care of his responsibility. That is a given. If a man doesn’t live up to his responsibilities he is vilified. What happens then if the mother of the child denies a man access to his child through technicalities of a court system.

In the case of Cody and Ashley it seems that is exactly what happened. Cody and Ashley conceived a child together in 2006. He was then informed Ashley had a miscarriage. When Cody learned of Ashley still being pregnant he contacted Ashley again only to be told by practically everyone around he wasn’t welcome - and like it or not - his child was being put put for adoption.

He did everything he needed to do to establish paternity in his home state only to have the mother give birth at the last minute in another. He was then denied the right to raise his daughter due to a technicality in Utah adoption laws - which are very anti-father.

Cody and his family have put together a website with more information. It can be seen here (the name is derived from the mother talking about selling her child on myspace)

There seems to be a double standard when it comes to unmarried fathers in this country. Men are told their financial contributions are welcome - if not required. When the men want to be there for their children and the mother doesn’t want them around - they are told “So sorry. Nothing anyone can do.”
